The Shannon Princess II embodies the essence of Irish hospitality, and is also the largest hotel barge to cruise the Lower Shannon River. Her experienced and able Captain has tailored journeys for years through the unspoiled reaches of the Shannon countryside - a profusion of lakes, green pastures and wide horizons. Abundant with fish and all kinds of wildlife, the River Shannon is a paradise for fishing enthusiasts, hikers and nature lovers alike—in fact anyone looking for real Irish charm. There are old country inns and pubs, plus magical islands with castle ruins rising up shrouded in mist. Her talented Chef - trained at the famous Ballymalloe School - distinguishes herself at every meal with signature dishes such as parcels of wild salmon and succulent roast of spring lamb. Most produce used on the barge is organic (even the luxury bath products) or are sourced freshly from local farmers’ markets. Each morning your breath will be taken away by the wonderful, freshly-baked authentic Irish treats that are put before you such as soda bread, lemon curd pie, waffles and scones. For more on her heavenly food, see our Food and Wine page.
